On Saturday 13th July, 30 individuals made up of Bereaved Parents their Family and Friends took on the 18 mile Malvern End to End Challenge, organised in partnership with Sky Blue Adventures to raise vital funds for the Lily Mae Foundation.
Starting off at 8am, the groupĀ made up of all ages & abilities set off across the Malvern Hills. Every person who took part in this new fundraising challenge was participating in memory of a baby. We also had some incredible grandparents join the event too!
The group walked a total of 18 miles across the day, ascending at 6400 feet and finished this incredible challenge by 6pm, taking the team a total of 9 hours to complete.
We asked Kat Philpott who walked in memory of her baby, Milly Florence a few questions about the day....
What was your Highlight?
I absolutely loved the Malvern End to End Challenge, so much so I am tempted to sign up again for next year. The views were stunning and it was incredibly peaceful looking out at the views that stretched out for miles, it was a total pleasure to walk and chat with others who had suffered the loss of a precious baby.
How much did you fundraise?
I am so pleased that my husband Si and I raised Ā£940.
Additional Thoughts?
It has been fantastic to raise money in memory of our daughter Milly who would be turning 10 in October 2024 and to give back to The Foundation for all the support they have given us. We have gained support through the Monthly Support Group, Living With Your Loss Day, 1-2-1 Support and being able to listen and be a part of the Still Parents Podcast. The support we have been able to access has been invaluable in helping us to understand the ebbs and flows of the grief journey and has made us feel less alone and connected to others.
If you fancy trying this challenge, why not sign up for next year?š¶ Our next Malvern End to End Challenge is booked for the 12th July 2025.
