What. An. Evening. March 9th 2024, we held our first ever Lily Mae Foundation White Collar Charity Boxing Event in partnership with The Boxing Lab & Ariya Skye Personal Training and it was incredible!
16 contenders, majority bereaved parents, others keen fundraisers and fitness fanatic signed up to 8 weeks of intense training roadmap in order to take part in a White Collar Boxing Match at the end of it.
All of those who took part were absolutely incredible and we cannot thank each and every person enough that got involved and whilst challenging themselves also raised an amazing amount of money to help support bereaved parents following the devastating loss of a baby.
We asked one of our fighters, Danii Butler, why she signed up: “I took part in the white collar boxing event for The Lily Mae Foundation for my two beautiful babies, Corey and Rylee. Corey was stillborn in April 2022. Rylee passed away at a day old in NICU. The Lily Mae Foundation has been a huge support to me and my husband, Jason, in the most unimaginable part of parenthood. Although we haven’t brought a baby home, we are still mom and dad to those babies and they gave me every bit of fight on the night I needed to win…”
Furthermore, Lily Mae Foundation Trustee and bereaved father to baby boy Oscar, Jack Taylor summed the event up with 3 words: “Unbelievable, Brilliant & Exciting.”
By hosting this event we managed to raise a grand total of £13,000.00 for the Lily Mae Foundation. This incredible amount of money will allow us to continue providing memory boxes for bereaved parents across the Midlands and offer 1-2-1 support, group support and Sibling Support for bereaved parents and families very much in need of support following the devastating loss of a baby to miscarriage, medical termination, neonatal death and stillbirth.
With our first boxing event being such an exciting and successful one, we will be most definitely holding another Saturday 9th November 2024! 👀
